Retreat Overview

Our Desert Escape Morocco Road Trip will take you across four cities and you’ll come to truly feel the difference between a traveler and a foreigner. Forget the ‘chi chi frou frou’ instagrammable, romanticized Morocco everyone longs for. We want you to connect with our traditional North African culture. Yes there will be breathtaking Riyads, luxurious palaces and Souqs (market places) but what makes Morocco so unique is the warmth of its people and the blend of African, Arab and Berber heritage.

Our Morocco Tour will be a unique 11 day road trip across various cities. Marrakech, Warzazate, Ait Ben Haddou, Merzouga desert and Todra Gorges. If you dig a genuine experience; bring a book, a pillow or lover, a friend, podcasts, a set of dominoes and your sense of adventure.

A Few Words From Our Travelers In Morocco

Read reviews from our travelers who have experienced the community tourism we offer; we proudly feature only feedback from real guests.

This was my 3rd trip with burgundy roots-and let me start off by saying: just when I thought I knew what to expect-the trip exceeded my expectations-it keeps getting better!! This trip should be titled Morocco dreamin’ because it was an absolute dream!! Wafa and her team (Khadija and Mohammad) helped organize the trip of a lifetime. You can tell Wafa puts a lot of thought into strategically planning every part of the trip. Not only does she curate the Dars/Riads that we stay at, but she also put a lot of thought into HOW to space out the trip to ensure everyone is comfortable. The duration we stayed in each location hit the sweet spot. Wafa planned it so we have enough time to explore as a group and also on our own. Everyone on the trip went from strangers to family in a matter of days. The people, the sights, the food! Everything was AMAZING! We saw tanneries, masjids, went on tours of towns, talked to locals, had some good laughs and learned about the history of the cities we were in. I would 10/10 recommend booking with Burgundy Roots! And I can’t wait to recruit more friends and family to join me next time on the next burgundy roots adventure.

Second trip with Burgundy Roots and Wafa did it AGAIN, alhamdulillah! It was wonderful from start to finish: The food, the views, the people, ma’shaAllah. Seeing videos of past Morocco retreats on IG made me start following Burgundy Roots. After being there in person with Wafa, Khadija and Mohammed, I am grateful I did. The trip had a good balance of tours and down time. Sunset & Maghrib prayer at Hassan II mosque, falling in love with the beautiful city of Chefchaouen, Jumm’ah at al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, consuming all the Moroccan Mint Tea, Tajine, Moroccan Tacos & fresh fruits/food along the way, experiencing a traditional Moroccan hammam and more. The beauty and friendliness of the Moroccan people cannot be overlooked and is what made this trip so beautiful. There was is a real sense of community in every city we visited. You’re safe to wander and get lost because the people of Morocco are happy to help you find you way if and when you do. Add to that the energy of our group and the patience & care that Wafa, Khadija and Mohammed showed to every detail, saying I did not want the trip to end would be a huge understatement. Thanks again! I’m truly grateful for this memorable experience. Looking forward to my next vacation with Wafa and her amazing team, insha’Allah.
